Mount Anak Krakatau 4 River Eruption 3 Days Lastly, Residents Still Activities As Usual

Mount Anak Krakatau has experienced eruptions four times in the last three days. Residents and tourists are prohibited from doing activities within a five-kilometer radius of the active crater.

"One eruption on Tuesday (January 3). Twice on Wednesday (January 4) at 14:10 WIB and 15.09 WIB, and the fourth was around 00.13 WIB," said Head of the Mount Anak Monitoring Post Krakatau in Hargopancuran, Rajabasa District, South Lampung Regency, Andi Suardi, when contacted, Thursday, June 5.

He added that the eruption that occurred on Thursday at 01.13 WIB was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 40 mm and a duration of 1,590 seconds.

A hamlet head on Sebesi Island said that currently its residents are still active as usual. This is because there has been no recommendation from the government regarding the increase in mountain activity located in the waters of the Sunda Strait between Banten and Lampung.

"People are still active as usual. Fishermen go to sea, those who cultivate are still gardening today. We will evacuate if there is an appeal," said Riko.

Chandra, the captain who often drives the ship through the waters of Sebesi Island, said that the waves in the water area were increasing, but it was still safe for ships.

"High ponds have occurred since the middle of last month, during the west wind. But it is exacerbated by the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau. Every now and then when you return to the night island, you can see a burning lava of fire, several times a sound of a bang from Mount Anak Krakatau," he said.

According to him, the operator of the fishing boat is advised not to approach the area within a radius of about five kilometers from Mount Anak Krakatau.
