Corruption in the Export of Cooking Oil, Former Director General of the Ministry of Trade Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison
JAKARTA - Former Director General (Dirjen) of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) Indra Sari Wisnu Wardhana was sentenced to three years in prison in a case of alleged corruption in the approval of the export of crude palm oil and its derivative products, including cooking oil.
"Send a sentence on Indra Sari Wisnu Wardhana with a prison term of 3 years and a fine of Rp. 100 million, with the condition that if the fine is not paid, it will be replaced by a prison sentence for two months," said Chief Justice Liliek Prisbawono Adi in a hearing at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor). reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 4.
The panel of judges considered that Indra Sari had been proven guilty based on a subsidiary indictment from the public prosecutor, namely from Article 3 junto Article 18 of Law no. 31 of 1999 as amended by Law no. 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.
In compiling the decision, the panel of judges considered aggravating and mitigating factors.
Related to aggravating matters, among others, the panel of judges considered that the defendant's actions did not support the government in eradicating corruption. Meanwhile, the mitigating factors are that Indra is considered not to have benefited from the proceeds of a crime, has never been convicted, and has family responsibilities.

Previously on Thursday, December 22, 2022, the public prosecutor at the Attorney General's Office demanded Indra Sari a sentence of 7 years in prison plus a fine of IDR 1 billion, a subsidiary of 6 months in prison.
The prosecutor indicted Indra Sari based on the primary charge of Article 2 paragraph (1) junto Article 18 of Law No. 31 of 1999 as amended by Law no. 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.
Regarding this decision, Indra Sari and his team of attorneys and the public prosecutor stated that they would think about it for seven days before filing an appeal.
