Pierre Gasly Targets The Large Finis 3 Alpine Team In F1 Season 2023
JAKARTA - Formula One (F1) racer Pierre Gasly has become part of the Alpine team and will start joining for the 2023 season. Despite being faced with new challenges, Gasly is optimistic that the Enstone-based team will be able to occupy the top three positions at the end of the season.
Gasly was previously a racer under the flag of Alpha Tauri. However, for the 2023 season, he has officially docked with the Alpine team.
Prior to the joining of Gasly, the Alpine team had a pretty good record. At the end of the 2022 season they sat in fourth place, behind Red Bull, Scuderia Ferrari and also Mercedes-AMG in the constructors' standings.
Based on the final result, Gasly is optimistic and assesses that Alpine has the opportunity to shift one of the rival teams in the top three. He felt the target was reasonable, if he wanted to keep going forward.
"They (Alpines) are the fourth strongest team on track this season (2022). The next target is the top three. The top three are ahead of us," Gasly was quoted as saying by Motorsport Week on Wednesday, December 28.
The French racer emphasized that his hope was not mere wishful thinking. The reason is that he feels Alpine has shown good development to be consistent in the future.
I believe that's possible. They've made rapid developments over the last few years. They obviously have speed.
"If we can step into the next stage next season, I'm sure we can be challengers in the top five or three," he said confidently.
