Queen Elizabeth Delivers Christmas Message Via Alexa

JAKARTA - Every year, Queen Elizabeth II will deliver Christmas messages directly to the British public. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this Christmas message from Queen Elizabeth will be broadcast via Alexa's virtual assistant.

Reporting from The Verge, Queen Elizabeth's Christmas messages can be heard on devices that have Alexa features, such as the Echo smart speaker, starting December 25 at 3 p.m. Greenwich time.

To hear a message from Queen Elizabth II, users can use the keyword "Alexa, play the Queen's Christmas Day message", from anywhere, not necessarily in Great Britain.

"After a challenging year, millions of people from the Commonwealth will eagerly await the Christmas Day message from Her Majesty the Queen," said Alexa's director of Europe, Eric King, quoted from the website of The Guardian, Tuesday, December 22.

In 2012, Queen Elizabeth II's Christmas Message was published on the Kindle digital book reading device.

The Guardian website reports Queen Elizabeth's Christmas message can also be heard via devices other than Amazon's Echo. Usually, the queen broadcasts the Christmas Message via BBC television and radio stations.

If using Google Home loudspeakers, the user can say "OK Google, play BBC Radio 4", according to the broadcast time, to listen to the message.
