The Ferry From Kupang Was Closed Due To Bad Weather, It's Been 2 Times A Week
NTT - The crossing from Kupang to a number of areas is closed. Bad weather has hit the waters of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) since Tuesday, December 27 morning.
General Manager of PT Pelangkutan Sungai Danau and Pemberangan (ASDP) Indonesia Ferry Kupang branch, Syamsudin said that there were three crossing routes that were closed due to the bad weather.
The three routes are Kupang-Rote Pulang Pergi (PP), Kupang-Lembata-Der (Adonara Island), and Kupang-Kalabahi (Alor), "he said in Kupang, NTT, was confiscated by Antara.
However, from a number of outlets that were closed, there was one route that opened the Kupang-Hansisi route on Semau Island. This destination point is not far from the Bolok Ferry Port.
He explained that the closure of a number of routes was due to prioritizing the safety of passengers who would sail. The reason is, the wave height in the waters of NTT when it ranges from 1.5 to 2.5 meters endangers the crossing.
In addition, people in NTT also, he said, already understand the weather as it is today. He also claimed that the closure of this route was also understood by the public.
This is the second time during the past week ASDP Kupang closed a number of routes due to bad weather on Sunday, December 25.
Syamsudin could not confirm when the crossing route from Kupang would be temporarily closed due to the changing weather.
"We cannot confirm how long, but we always monitor shipping announcements, and also monitor information from the BMKG, before deciding to sail," he said.
