After Visiting Mak Nyak Aminah Cendrakasih's Grave, Rano Karno Looked At Benjamin Sueb's Grave

JAKARTA - Rano Karno visited the Karet Bivak Public Cemetery (TPU) on Friday, December 23. Arriving at 14.50 WIB in all black clothes, the actor who played Doel in Si Doel Anak Sekolahan visited the tomb of Aminah Cendrakasih, who played Mak Nyak, which was buried yesterday.

Because he was still in Singapore before, Rano Karno did not have time to see Mak Nyak for the last time when he died on Wednesday, December 21 yesterday. He also came to mourn the actress he already considered a mother. At Aminah's grave, Rano prayed to the Creator.

After visiting Mak Nyak's grave, then Rano Karno visited the grave of legendary actor Benjamin Sueb. The tomb from the Babeh actor in Si Doel Anak Sekolahan is also at the Karet Bivak TPU, only a few blocks different from Aminah Cendrakasih's grave.

Rano Karno also recounted the process of his introduction to Bang Ben, Benjamin Sueb's nickname. The two of them first played together as children and father in the film Si Doel Anak Betawi (1972). "Maybe my relationship is the same. It's longer than me and Nyak," said Rano Karno in front of Benjamin Sueb's grave.

Rano admitted that he was surprised when he realized that the figure of his mother and father in Si Doel Anak Sekolahan was buried in the same TPU. "Yes, this is how Nyak and Babeh end up buried on the same land," he said.

Returning to memory the figure of Aminah Cendrakasih, Rano himself did not know that long ago Mak Nyak had asked to be buried in TPu Karet Bivak. He only found out the location of the funeral after Mak Nyak died, through his fellow film player, Dewi Irawan.

Rano also tried to guess the reason why Mak Nyak wanted to be buried in the Karet Bivak TPU. "At that time there was also a media friend who asked, I didn't dare to answer on what basis Mak Nyak asked to be buried in Bivak, was it because there was a Mak Wok here or here because Ada Benjamin, I don't know," he said.

The reason is, Mak Nyak's residence and also his son in Tangerang are relatively far from where he was buried. "This bag, if it's not piled up, it's already crowded, it won't fit. It's a long way off, you know, he (lives) in Pondok Aren, Tangerang. There are lots of funerals, but I don't know why he wants to be here, there must be a reason, because I don't know," he concluded.
