COVID-19 Update As Of December 21: 37,445 Specimens Examined, Resulting In 6,848 New Cases

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 37,445 specimens were examined with the results of 6,848 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 671,778 people," the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying, Monday, December 21.

Cases recovered today increased by 5,073, so that a total of 546,884 people recovered. Then, the confirmed positive cases who died increased by 205 people and a total of 20,085 people.

The province with the most new cases is in DKI Jakarta with 1,466 new cases and a total of 164,577 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Followed by Central Java, which has 997 new cases with a total of 72,528 cases. East Java has 837 new cases and a total of 76,111 cases. Then, West Java has 716 new cases and a total of 74,664 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 1,371 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an increase of 630 recovered cases, East Java with an increase of 610 recovered cases, and Central Java with an increase of 451 cases recovered.

Then, there are 2 provinces that reported having no new cases today. The provinces are West Kalimantan and Gorontalo.

In addition, the number of specimens examined reached 6,824,030. In detail, as many as 6,706,565 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 117,465 using molecular rapid tests (TCM).

Finally, the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 67,509 people. Currently, 510 districts / cities from 34 provinces have cases of COVID-19.
