Vice President: If Christmas And New Year Cases Of COVID-19 Are Sloping, PPKM Could Just Be Removed

JAKARTA - Vice President Maruf Amin said the termination of the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) would see the impact of the Christmas and New Year holidays.

"Indeed, it seems that Indonesia continues to decline, even though there are new variants. So there is already a desire to stop PPKM, meaning that it is normal again, but it remains to be seen later the impact of this Christmas and New Year," said the Vice President after opening the 2nd ASEAN Islamic Conference, in Bali, Thursday 22 December.

According to him, if after Christmas and New Year the COVID-19 situation is still sloping, then Indonesia can stop PPKM. Currently, PPKM level 1 status is still valid throughout Indonesia.

"But based on the analysis of some scientists, experts, we still have to be vigilant because now in China it is rising. Don't let it rise in China then have an impact on us," he also said.

The vice president said the development of COVID-19 must continue to be anticipated and watched out for.
