Instagram Starts Testing New Ways to Prevent Hacking

JAKARTA - A few days ago Instagram launched a new website Instagram.com/hacked for users whose accounts have been locked due to being hacked victims.

Now, Instagram announced that they started testing a new way to help users prevent hacking on their platform.

The new method that will be provided by Instagram is to send a warning if there is a fraudulent account asking to follow you.

With the company's detection system, Instagram will automatically detect if the account is found to be a fake account.

Going forward, Instagram will introduce a blue badge for verified accounts in Stories, DMs, and Feed for proven authentic accounts.

"So there will be more places to see if the account you're interacting with is legit," Instagram wrote in an announcement shared on Twitter.

Also, to keep your Instagram account safe from hacking, Instagram also recommends applying two-factor authentication (2FA) and updating the phone number that is there.

"Over the last few months, we've seen an increase in malicious accounts sending DMs to people to try and access sensitive information like account passwords," he added.

If you receive a direct message telling you that your account is at risk of being banned, or that you're violating Instagram's policies, it's definitely a scam. Because Instagram says they will never DM you.

"When we discover this kind of scam, we take action against it. But we also encourage you to report the content and block the account," Instagram said.
