In Collaboration with IMI, Sirkuti Mandalika Will Hold a GT Car Race
JAKARTA - SOE Deputy Minister II Kartika Wirjoatmodjo revealed plans to hold a GT car race at the Mandalika Circuit after obtaining certification from the International Automotive Federation or Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).
"Regarding the FIA (certification), later it is planned that there will be a GT car race," said Kartika Wirjoatmodjo or who is familiarly called Tiko, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, December 14.
Tiko added, it is possible that the GT car race at the Mandalika Circuit will collaborate with the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI).
Apart from that, the Mandalika Circuit is also planning to hold a MotoGP race again next year.
"Maybe later in November 2023, MotoGP again," said Tiko.
Previously, PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney BUMN Tourism Holding revealed that the Mandalika Circuit in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) had received certification from the International Automotive Federation (FIA) so that the circuit could already hold championship competitions for four-wheeled vehicles.
Main Director of InJourney Dony Oskaria said, thus the Mandalika circuit was able to hold championship competitions for four-wheeled vehicles at the Mandalika circuit, in addition to the World Superbike (WSBK) and MotoGP championships.
In addition, InJourney will also start to enter into water sports as an attraction in Mandalika for tourists.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, H Lalu Pathul Bahri said, the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is now ready to host international events other than MotoGP.
The Provincial Government of West Nusa Tenggara will strengthen the image of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Central Lombok Regency as a world-class destination as the area becomes a new economic point outside Java.
