Unika Atma Jaya Students' Sends To Help Victims Of Cianjur Earthquakes
JAKARTA - Indonesian Catholic University (Unika) Atma Jaya sent disaster emergency students and response teams to help victims of the Cianjur earthquake.
"The emergency response team consists of medical personnel, education personnel, students and volunteers from Unika Atma Jaya alumni who have experience in disaster management," said Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs and Alumni Unika Atma Jaya, Dr. Agustinus Prajaka WB, in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Saturday, November 26.
The Atma Jaya Atma Emergency Response Team focused on helping victims affected by the Cianjur earthquake in the first 6 months. Atma Jaya cares that the victims of the Cianjur earthquake are the collaboration of Atma Jaya Unika and the Atma Jaya Jakarta Alumni Association (Perluni-UAJ) in the movement of concern for earthquake victims. The students were directly involved as volunteers at the evacuation site in Cianjur Regency.
"On behalf of the entire academic community and alumni of Atma Jaya Unika, I express my deep sorrow for the disaster that occurred and the people who were victims. We have now also dispatched a team that represents Atma Jaya Unika to help and serve the victims of natural disasters that occurred in Cianjur. This is part of our moral and humanitarian commitment and responsibility because we realize as an educational institution that actually implements the values of concern and initiative," said Prajaka.
Prajaka explained that the team will continue to distribute aid, consolidate various supporting networks owned by Unika Atma Jaya, and support disaster management efforts carried out by the government and local community organizations.
"The presence of the emergency response team brings a caring mission in an emergency and does small things with a great spirit of love in the hope of reducing the smallest burden," he continued.
Chairman of the Pantuni Unika Atma Jaya for Social and Environmental Affairs, Dr Juanli, RFP, AWP said that Unika Atma Jaya also coordinated with St. Peter's Catholic Church, Cianjur Parish for the distribution of aid to victims of the Cianjur earthquake, especially in the most affected and isolated areas, in Sarampad Village, Cugenang District, Cianjur Regency.
The campus continues to take more focused handling steps in accordance with the situation reports from the team that departs every week. Furthermore, the campus also dispatched students to help with short and medium-term recovery through the Real Working Lecture (KKN) Disaster Care program in Cianjur.
