Accompanying Jokowi in Checking the Location of the G20 Summit, Erick Thohir Ensures Readiness to Welcome Invited Guests: SOEs Get Three Important Roles
JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir, accompanied President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to directly check the location of the G20 Summit in Bali. Erick said everyone was ready to welcome the invitations.
"We together with the President have checked several venues that will be the location of the G20 summit, God willing, all of them are ready to entertain guests from other countries", Erick said in a written statement, Wednesday 9 November.
Erick has also asked several SOEs involved to prepare themselves as best they can for the success of the G20 Summit. SOEs, continued Erick, had three important roles during the G20 Summit which included logistics and infrastructure, communication and media, as well as assistance and partnerships.
Erick said INKA, PLN, Wijaya Karya, and Pertamina had synergized in preparing 24 electric buses, and 66 electric motors, and providing public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU). This is in line with one of the G20 topics, namely the transition to sustainable energy by supporting the creation of an electric vehicle ecosystem at the G20 Summit.
"I also ordered PLN, Angkasa Pura I, Telkom, and InJourney to ensure the best service, starting from airports, internet network connectivity, hotels, and reliability of electricity supply", said Erick.

Erick assessed that the G20 Summit was a momentum for Indonesia and the world to build a better world. He said SOEs had also carried out several initiatives through meetings of religious leaders or R20 and Music20 or M20 as a series of the G20 Summit.
These two events, according to Erick, made the G20 Summit not only an elitist event but also grounded and felt by the wider community.
"Of course, SOEs are not alone, we always synergize and collaborate with other ministries, local governments, and other parties so that the G20 Summit can really run optimally and leave a good impression on the participants", said Erick.
