Questioning Minister Yasonna Dismissed Director General Of Immigration Ronny Sompie
JAKARTA - Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna Laoly suddenly dismissed the Director General of Immigration Ronny F Sompie. Ronny was replaced by Jhoni Ginting for a while until there was a definitive replacement.
This removal is related to the confusing whereabouts of the KPK fugitive Harun Masiku. He is a suspect in giving bribes to former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan.
The unclear news about Harun's whereabouts began after immigration officials stated that the PDI-P candidate's position was in Singapore. Yasonna believed, two days before the KPK conducted OTT on Wahyu, Harun was in Singapore. But other news says that Harun was already in Indonesia when the OTT was carried out. Ultimately, the immigration authorities then corrected what they had said before.
It turns out that Harun has been in Indonesia since January 7 before the KPK OTT. At that time, Ronny admitted that he was late in realizing Harun's existence due to changes in the system at Terminal 2F Soekarno-Hatta, Tangerang, Banten, which became Harun's entrance from Singapore. Several days after Ronny conveyed this information, he was removed from his position as director general of immigration.
The removal of Ronny, which felt sudden and odd, is considered to indicate something else. Executive Director of the Indonesia Political Review, Ujang Komarudin, assessed that there is a scheme of sacrifice of subordinates for removal which was carried out suddenly.
"It seems that Yasonna sacrificed his men to cover up the real data," said Ujang when contacted by reporters, Wednesday, January 29.
He also considered that the removal was done because Ronny was considered to have indirectly embarrassed Yasonna about the information on Harun's whereabouts. Because, he conveyed different data from Yasonna.
"Because he released data that was different from what Yasonna said, Ronny was considered to have humiliated him. Because Yasonna is considered the public to be lying," said Ujang.
This political observer from Al-Azhar University Indonesia also assessed that there were efforts made systematically to make it difficult for the KPK to carry out investigations in the inter-time replacement bribery (PAW) case of the DPR RI members. You do this by closing and eliminating existing data and facts.
Meanwhile, Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) assesses that President Joko Widodo must immediately take action against Yasonna. One of them is to remove the Minister of Law and Human Rights because of his negligence in providing information that does not match facts.
"However, he (Yasonna Laoly) is the highest authority of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and he has said that it is not in accordance with the facts regarding the existence of Harun Masiku," said Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) researcher Kurnia Ramadhana to reporters, Wednesday, January 29.
So that based on the misinformation conveyed, Kurnia thinks Yasonna should also be held responsible. As a result of this misinformation, Harun's work to investigate the bribery case has been disturbed.
"The effect of this erroneous data is very crucial, the work of law enforcers is disturbed because they simply believe Yasonna's statement," said Kurnia.
Previously, after Ronny F Sompie was removed, the position of Director General of Immigration was then held by the daily executive (Plh), Jhoni Ginting. To VOI, Jhoni said he received his assignment letter on Tuesday, January 28, noon.
"I got (letters) as of this afternoon and it's temporary until there is something definitive," said Jhoni when contacted via text message.
Apart from Ronny, Yasonna also removed the Director of Immigration Systems and Technology Alif Suaidi due to the confusing news of Harun Masiku.
Not only that, the investigation was also carried out by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to find the true cause of Harun not being detected when he entered Indonesia by forming an independent team from the Ministry of Communication and Information, Bareskrim Polri in the cyber section, National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN)
