Sutradara Berhitung Film 20th Century Girl Masuk Rating 6 Secara Global

JAKARTA - Century Girl's 20th film hasn't been released a week on Netflix. But this film received a positive response from the public, marked by this film becoming the most watched film on the platform.

Not only triumphing in the country of origin, 20th Century Girl also ranks sixth globally on Netflix. The hashtag #20th CenturyGirl was on the trending topic.

Interestingly, this film is Bang Woo Ri's directorial debut. He was surprised that 20th Century Girl received a positive response. This story was also written based on his personal experience.

I want to make teen romance films according to Korean culture. Because this film is based on personal experience, I think a wider audience will understand it," said Bang Woo Ri, launching Yonhap News.

Although this film has a premise that is widely found in teen films, the director explains his desire to evoke nostalgia.

Because the story goes back to the past and builds nostalgia, the plot is difficult to avoid the clich side. I also feel challenged," he said.

Bang Woo Ri also uses color to give the impression of the past. This can be seen from the cinematography and the color of the clothes used by the players.

"I insist on using saturation colors to capture the sentiments of first and past love," explained Bang Woo Ri.

The story of the 70s' and 80s' era is popular in recent times but the obsession of retro continues into the 90s'. I think people of my age will start sharing their stories," he continued.

20th Century Girl tells the story of Bo Ra (Kim You Jung) who joins the broadcasting club with Woon Ho (Byun Woo Seok). Bo Ra is good friends with Yeon Doo (Roh Yoon Seo).

Yeon Doo likes Hyun Jin (Park Jung Woo). Yeon Doo asked Bo Ra to find out about Hyun Jin while Yeon Doo left for the United States. Bo Ra also received information about Hyun Jin from Woon Ho. This made Bo Ra begin to get close to Hyun Jin and Woon Ho.

The 20th Century Girl film can be watched on Netflix.
