Samsung Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition Becomes South Korean Military Tactical Cell Phone
JAKARTA - Samsung should be proud, because the military in South Korea will test its cellphone products as actual information devices on the battlefield. The device used is the Samsung Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition.
Launching from the Yonhap news agency, the South Korean defense administration office has signed a cooperation contract within LIG Nex1 Co to purchase individual equipment for South Korean army and naval forces.
"This new battle command system will be sent for trials in the next three to six months," said an official at the agency.
The military communication device will be developed from the Samsung Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition model. Later military personnel could use it to share information on intelligence and the current situation of war without a separate "repeater" tool.
The Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition will have a hidden feature to block communication, as well as a display for night or night mode. The use of this phone in the military will be determined after trials.
This defense communication system is one of seven devices that the South Korean military will purchase. They also introduced a drone detection radar and a multi-function unmanned vehicle.
