Thermorex, A Fever Drug From PT Konimex Lampaui, Glikol's Safe Limit, According To BPOM

JAKARTA Thermorex fever drug product produced by PT Konimex with distribution license number DBL7813003537A1, plastic bottle packaging @60 ml is known to contain Etylene Glikol (EG) contamination that exceeds the safe threshold.

This refers to the announcement of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) as reported on the www.pom.go.id page.

In his statement, BPOM stated that the determination of Termorex as a product that has a content above the safe limit based on the results of sampling testing until October 19, 2022.

Even so, BPOM has not been able to confirm that the EG contamination in the Konimex▁kejadianeh product could have an impact on kidney failure.

For information, Ethilen Glikol (EG) and Dietilen Glikol (DEG) contamination is allegedly used by acute kidney failure patients before and during treatment at the hospital.

Other sample test criteria, produced by manufacturers that use four solvent raw materials for glycol propylene, polyethylene glycol, sorbitol, and glycerin/glicerol with a large volume amount, and are produced by producers who have a minimum track record of compliance in fulfilling quality aspects.

"In addition to drug use, there are still several risk factors that cause acute kidney failure, such as viral infections, Leptospira bacteria, and multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) or post-COVID-19 multisystem inflammation syndrome," said BPOM quoted Thursday, October 20.

In addition to announcing the explosion of Thermorex fever from PT Konimex, BPOM also mentioned four other products. First, Flurin DMP Sirup (cough and flu medicine), produced by PT Yarindo Farmatama with distribution license number DTL0332708637A1, box packaging, plastic bottle @60 ml.

Second, Unibebi Cough Sirup (cough and flu medicine), produced by Universal Pharmaceutical Industries with distribution license number DTL72263037A1, box packaging, plastic bottle @60 ml.

Third, Unibebi Sirup Fever ( fever medicine), production of Universal Pharmaceutical Industries with distribution license number DBL8726301237A1, box packaging, bottle @60 ml.

And the fourth is Unibebi Fever Drops ( fever medicine), produced by Universal Pharmaceutical Industries with distribution license number DBL1926303336A1, box packaging, bottle @15 ml.

BPOM itself has given direction to a number of these companies to make withdrawals throughout Indonesia and destroy the products in question.

Meanwhile, business actors involved in this matter are asked to report the results of the independent EG and DEG contamination testing as a form of responsibility to consumers.
