In 1900, Rolls-Royce co-founder Charles Rolls predicted an electric future for cars. After obtaining an electric vehicle called The Columbia Electricvoltage, he predicted its suitability as a clean and voiceless alternative to an internal combustion engine, provided there is sufficient infrastructure to support it.
This electric car is completely soundless and clean. There is no smell or vibration. They will become very useful when charging stations can still be arranged." said Charles Stewart Rolls, Co-Founder, Rolls-Royce, in 1900.
Now, with more than 120 years after the forecast, the time has come for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars to fulfill the predictions of its founder.
The company describes Spectre as the spiritual successor to the 2000s Phantom Coupe with an overall length of 214.6 inches and a wheelbase of 126.3 inches, respectively, 7.2 and 3.8 inches.
The Spectre was built on the same Luxury Architecture platform that has supported all its car production since 2017 from Cullinan and Ghost to Phantom and Boat Tail.
Rolls-Royce also said that Spectre aims at an estimated EPA range of up to 260 miles, which is 14 miles better than the Porsche Taycan GTS.
Lastly, Spectre is expected to be available soon, with the delivery of the first client starting in Q4 2023. Spectre prices will be placed between Cullinan and Phantom.
