BMKG Express Thousands Of Central Sulawesi Goyang Earthquakes Throughout 2022
PALU - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of the Palu Geophysics Station recorded as many as 1,181 earthquakes occurred in Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi) from January to September 2022. "Thousands of earthquakes that occurred in Central Sulawesi were triggered by Sesar Palu Koro, Sesar Matano and active faults in the Poso Regency area," said the BMKG Data and Information Section Staff of the Palu Geophysics Station, Nurhayati, in Palu, Central Sulawesi, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, October 18. "He said, of these earthquakes were recorded 617 earthquakes with a magnitude of 3.0 and as many as 554 times with a power above 3.0 to 5.0. There were also five incidents that occurred above the strength of M5.0 but occurred in West Sulawesi and recorded the most earthquakes but had no potential for tsunamis," he said.
Nurhayati continued, active fault activity in Central Sulawesi triggered earthquake shocks up to three times a day with strength below M3.0.
Tidak dirasakan manusia dan hanya terdeteksi oleh alat dan saat ini Sesar Palu Koro masih dalam keadaan normal, ujarnya.Menurut Nurhayati, hingga saat ini belum ada alat yang bisa memprediksi secara tepat waktu akan terjadi gempa bumi, sehingga masyarakat diminta tidak mudah percaya dengan informasi yang memprediksi akan terjadi gempa bumi dengan kekuatan tertentu.Gempa tidak bisa diprediksi secara tepat kapan akan terjadi sehingga masyarakat jangan percaya informasi yang beredar di media sosial kecuali di situs resmi BMKG, tandasnya.
