Tony Blair Witness SOE Innovation in Green Energy
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan along with the Executive Chair of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change and Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, accompanied by Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir visited the exhibition room featuring green innovations by several SOEs.
On the occasion, the Deputy Minister of SOEs I Pahala Nugraha Mansury, and Deputy Minister of SOEs II Kartika Wirjoatmodjo participated. Pahala said that PLN, Pertamina, and the Indonesian Mining Industry (MIND ID) had initiatives in the energy sector to reduce carbon emissions.
"Three companies in the energy and mining sectors. We have complete initiatives related to energy, including building an innovative system," said Pahala when accompanying the group while visiting the PLN booth, at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Monday, October 17.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said PLN had made various efforts to reduce the use of coal in power plants. He revealed that PLN had removed 2 Giga Watts (GW) of the use of coal from the power plant. In addition, 1.1 GW of coal was replaced with renewable energy, and 1 GW was replaced with natural gas.
"Not only that, the General Plan for National Electricity is the most aggressive, as much as 51.6 percent comes from renewable energy," he said.
In the exhibition, the General Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SKPLU) was also shown. PLN has participated in the construction of SPKLU of 43 percent of the total national SPKLU to accelerate EV growth in Indonesia. Currently, PLN has 150 SPKLU units in 120 locations.
In 2022, PLN will carry out additional construction of 110 PLN SPKLU units spread throughout Indonesia. Of these targets, as many as 70 SPKLU units were built to support the G20 Summit in Bali, while 40 more units were spread throughout Indonesia.
In addition to PLN, Pertamina is also trying to achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2060. In the first phase (2022-2025), Pertamina targets a reduction in carbon emissions of ~3 million tCO2e, the second phase (2026-2030) a reduction of ~11 million tCO2e, and third phase (2031-2060) reduction of ~27 million tCO2e. The two pillars that are carried out by Pertamina are the decarbonization of business activities and the development of green businesses.
The MIND ID, which consists of PT Inalum (Persero), PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, and PT Timah Tbk, has set a target of reducing emissions by 1 percent by 2022. This commitment is a representation of the company's efforts to reduce emissions from the industrial sector. energy and Industrial Process and Product Uses (IPPU) by 15.8% in 2030 and supports the Government's aspiration of net zero emissions by 2060.

The SOE International Conference was held as a government commitment to support the implementation of the Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aspects, particularly in the health sector, financial inclusion, digital transformation, and energy transition.
Several experts, SOE executives, and global companies discussed topics around Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG), as well as global cooperation. In addition, various new strategic investment initiatives and opportunities will be introduced, ranging from the energy and renewable energy sectors, telecommunications, health, and infrastructure, to tourism.
SOE leaders, SOE stakeholders, delegates from G20 member countries, investors, representatives of friendly countries and international organizations, business partners, academics, think tanks, and media from within and outside the country also participated in this activity.
