'Thais Love Indonesian Dress, Indonesian Halal Comforter Loves'
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Consulate in Sangkhah, Thailand, stated that the export potential of halal cosmetics from Indonesia to Southern Thailand is large, given the high public interest in beauty ingredients.
"Halal cosmetics are highly sought after here. Because people here (Thailand) love grooming. So the point is that halal cosmetics are very popular," said the Indonesian Consulate in Songkhla, Kingdom of Thailand, Fachry Sulaiman, in a business opportunity webinar organized by the Al Ahmadi Entrepreneurship Center, reported by Antara, Thursday, December 3.
He said, Southern Thailand is inhabited by Muslim people who need halal goods, including cosmetics.
So far, there has been a popular halal cosmetic trademark from Indonesia there. Therefore, he said, the opportunity for similar products is relatively large.
"'Wardah is popular because he entered Malaysia first. So they have a pretty strong memory," he said.
In order for halal cosmetic products from Indonesia to enter the Thai market, he continued, of course, they must have a halal certificate from an institution there.
"They are sensitive to halal certified products," he said.
Halal, according to him, becomes a barometer for the people there when consuming a product.
On that occasion, Fachry invited Indonesian entrepreneurs to enter the Thai market, especially the southern part.
He advises businesses to enter the Thai market through virtual sales (virtual marketing).
Apart from cosmetics, products that have the potential to be exported to Thailand are textiles. Indonesian Muslim convection is also popular there, he said, especially those from Tasikmalaya (West Java) and Bukit Tinggi (West Sumatra).
