Protected Volatility, Indonesia Successfully Realized The Capital Market As A Safe And Trustworthy Investment Place
JAKARTA - OJK Capital Market Supervision Chief Executive Inarno Djajadi said the performance of the Indonesian Capital Market has recorded positive growth with relatively maintained volatility compared to other countries in Southeast Asia (ASEAN).
In a press conference on the Policy Priority and Strengthening of Capital Market Supervision, he conveyed that the JCI's performance was the highest compared to the ASEAN and regional exchanges, which were at 6,939.15 points, an increase of 5.43 percent year to date (ytd) on October 11, 2022.
In fact, JCI's growth has broken the record high in history, at the level of 7,318.01 on September 13, 2022.
For information, the performance of other ASEAN state stock markets such as Singapore fell -0.60 percent ytd, Thailand fell -5.73 percent ytd, Malaysia fell -11.53 percent ytd, and Vietnam fell -32.84 percent ytd as of October 11, 2022.
"All achievements of the Indonesian Capital Market are very important in an effort to make Indonesia a safe, comfortable, and reliable investment place," said Inarno, quoted by Antara, Friday, October 14.
He continued, the current market cap or market capitalization is also recorded at Rp9,142 trillion, an increase of 10.75 percent ytd as of October 11, 2022.
In addition, he said entrepreneurs (emitents) had also begun to increase the activity of raising funds through the Capital Market.
As of October 11, 2022, it was recorded that fund raising activities in the capital market were still quite high, namely IDR 179.66 trillion of 168 emissions consisting of 42 Initial Public Offerings, 22 Limited Public Offerings, 16 Debt and/or Sukuk Public Offerings, and 88 Sustainable Public Offerings of Debt and/or Sukuk in phase I and stage II.
As for the 168 emission activities, 48 of them are new issuers, even Inarno said that so far there have been dozens of companies eyeing to conduct initial public offerings.
In addition, the growth of this issuer was also followed by the growth in the number of retail investors which increased almost nine times compared to the last five years which reached 9.85 million Single Investor Identification (SID) until October 11, 2022.
