BUMN Synergy Ready To Build Jargas To 400 Thousand House Connections
JAKARTA - PGN Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Pindad and PT Industri Telekomunikasi Indonesia (INTI) to realize cooperation in the development of natural gas cylinder technology and infrastructure supporting 400,000 house connections (SR) in 2022.
The signing of the MoU between PT PGN and PT Pindad was carried out by the Director of Infrastructure and Technology of PGN Achmad Muchtasyar and the Director of Technology and Development of PT Pindad Sigit P. Santosa. Meanwhile, the signing of the MoU with PT Inti was carried out by the Director of PGNCOM Larassetyo Wibowo, and the President Director of PT INTI Edi Witjara. The MoU was signed in Bandung on Friday, October 7 last.
"PGN's collaboration with PT Pindad and PT Inti is a synergy between SOEs in optimizing domestic products for natural gas supporting infrastructure. With PT Pindad, PGN will develop natural gas distribution modes through CNG and LNG gas cylinders so that natural gas distribution can be more flexible Then with PT Inti, we will collaborate in producing smart meters for gas use", explained PGN Infrastructure and Technology Director Achmad Muchtasyar in a written statement, Tuesday, October 11.
Achmad added that the collaboration with PT INTI is expected to increase the implementation of digitalization in calculating the use of natural gas that can be directly connected to the billing system.
Meanwhile, PT INTI has the facility to produce Smart Meter Gas with an installed capacity of 4,000 units per month and can provide exploration space to increase capacity per month.
"This synergy is important so that people can enjoy gas, we support them with smart meters. This is the beginning of domestic products working in their own country. Hopefully, the domestic industry will grow and we SOEs must play a role in development. TKDN at PT INTI has more than 40 percent. Especially for PGN, PT INTI is committed to helping gas downstream", said PT INTI President Director Edi Witjara.
Currently, PGN is seeking a breakthrough in distributing natural gas through more movable tubes, namely the Gaslink Cylinder for the distribution of CNG and VGL tubes for Retail LNG. Variations in tube sizes ranging from 175 L, 110 L, 80 L, 45 L, 30 L, and 15 L, will make it easier for PGN to serve the commercial sector.

Director of Technology and Development of PT Pindad, Sigit P. Santosa, said the synergy between PGN Group and PT Pindad would also reflect domestic capabilities towards natural gas energy sovereignty with natural gas infrastructure created by the nation's children.
"PT Pindad is ready to support PGN. Pindad's business derivatives will include CNG gas cylinders, LNG, and other equipment to support natural gas. Pindad welcomes it, it is hoped that the MoU will be the starting point for the next cooperation. We have to build domestic capabilities. Pindad can do reverse engineering and continue to synergize with SOEs. Hopefully, this collaboration is useful", said Sigit.
Meanwhile, Achmad added that PGN is also ready to support in terms of gas energy for PT Pindad for the production process and PT Inti in producing ceramics.
"With the increasing use of natural gas in the country, it will help reduce the use of imported energy", said Achmad.
