Five TNI Members Kick Aremania Supporters While Kanjuruhan Tragedy is Still Under Investigation at Pomdam V Malang
SURABAYA - Five members of the TNI are being questioned at the Military Police of Kodam (Pomdam) V Malang, for allegedly kicking Aremania supporters during the Malang Kanjuruhan Tragedy. The TNI's quick steps are in line with the promise of the TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa to investigate the members involved in the tragedy.
"The five members of the TNI are now being investigated at the Malang Pomdam, and we'll see what happens later", said Commander of the V Brawijaya Regional Military Command, Maj. Gen. Nur Chahyanto, Wednesday, October 5.
The five TNI soldiers consisted of four people with the rank of Sergeant II and Private I. They were investigated for allegedly carrying out repressive actions including kicking Aremania supporters, as in the video that is currently viral on social media.
Chahyanto regretted the excessive actions of its members. He has also apologized for the Kanjuruhan tragedy. He realized the mistakes of his parajurit who committed acts of violence against several Aremania fans.
"We express our deepest apologies to the families of the victims and Aremania supporters who received violence from TNI personnel", he said.

According to Chanyanto, the acts of violence committed by his soldiers against several supporters exceeded the limits of their authority. This caused many Arema fans to be injured and hurt.
"So for this act of violence, we have arrested five soldiers who are suspected of committing violence against Arema supporters. They are still undergoing examination at Denpom V Region 3 Malang Pomdam V East Java", he said.
Apart from that, his party also gave appreciation to the TNI soldiers who helped the victims of the Kanjuruhan tragedy.
"In this tragedy, many TNI soldiers helped with treatment at the scene, and evacuated the victims to the Soepraoen Army Hospital in Malang, East Java", he said.
