Cipali Toll Road Is Accident Prone But The Main Cause Is Due To Human Negligence

JAKARTA - The cause of traffic accidents on the Cikopo-Palimanan or Cipali Toll Road is dominated by human negligence. The percentage reached 86 percent.

"Based on data, around 86 percent of accidents on the Cipali Toll Road are caused by human error," said Director of Operations for Astra Cipali Toll Road, Agung Prasetyo in Majalengka, Thursday, September 29.

Agung said that negligence often occurs, such as drowsiness, tiredness, lack of anticipation, and driving a vehicle at high speed.

Based on this data, the Cipali toll road manager urges road users to always be alert and when tired or sleepy, immediately pull over to the rest area provided.

Agung said that his party together with the National Police, the Ministry of Transportation, and other relevant agencies continue to try to reduce the number of accidents by continuing to campaign for driving safety movements, both small and large scale.

"Today's safety campaign is a form of our seriousness to continue to increase road users' awareness of driving safety, especially on toll roads," he said as quoted by Antara.

Agung added that based on data from the Traffic and Security Department of Astra Cipali Toll Road, the number of traffic accidents on the Cipali Toll Road decreased by 6 percent compared to last year's data. The 6 percent decrease was obtained from accident data for the January-August 2021 and January-August 2022 periods.

"For the traffic accident data for the period January to August 2021, there were 212 cases, while in the same period in 2022 there were 199 cases," he said.

In an effort to increase road users' awareness of driving safety, the Cipali toll road manager continuously makes various efforts, both in terms of safety facilities, road facilities, and supporting facilities.

As manifested by the installation of wire rope or steel slings at KM 106, weight in motion weighing equipment installed in Palimanan, speed reducer markings along the toll road.

Then strobe lights at nine points of the blindspot area, 10 flip flop lights, 40 pole lamp points and traditional shapes that represent the culture of the five districts as accessories to reduce boredom for road users, as well as 166 surveillance camera units (CCTV) spread over every kilometer along the Cipali Toll Road. to ensure the safety and comfort of road users.
