Campus This Changes The Department Of Information Engineering So Metaverse Technical Process
JAKARTA Metaverse has become a topic of hot talks in recent years. The fall of a number of large companies into the virtual world has added to the public's appeal to the metaverse. Call it Adidas, Nike, Samsung, Walmart and other multinational giants have plunged into the metaverse.
One of the campuses in China, Nanjing University plans to include the topic of the metaverse into one of their study programs. The university will open the first Metaverse in the Bamboo Curtain country.
Nanjing's University of Science & Information Technology has changed the name of one of its main majors, the Information Technical Department, to Metaverse Engineering Management, with the aim of integrating more subjects related to the metaverse into universities. According to sources, Nanjing University is likely to be the first university in China to include the word "metaverse".
According to a Bitcoin.com News report, Dean of Faculty, Pan Zhigeng, stated that this move will contribute to institutional integration with companies linked to the metaverse, to identify the needs of these groups and train more talent to fill in their list of names.
Zhigeng also stated that students would be more eligible to serve in three different fields including smart health, smart education, and digital tourism. To advance universities in these fields, the department will form three different work groups: metaverse research institutes, smart meteorological research institutes, and smart medical research institutes.
In addition to Nanjing University, one of the well-known campuses in Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has announced the construction of an online metaverse campus called Metahkust last July. This campus allows distance learning where students from various places can attend together at the same place and time in the metaverse. This is claimed to be a better effort than using 2D video applications such as Zoom and Google Meet.
That same month, the University of Tokyo, Japan, also offered a metaverse engineering course at the end of this year. It doesn't stop there, the company owned by Mark Zuckerberg, Meta, has participated in the construction of 10 online metaverse campuses after working with a metaverse construction company called Victoryxr. The construction of the metaverse campus is worth 150 million US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 2.3 trillion.
