Commission II Of The DPR Will Immediately Discuss Megawati's Idea Of A Political Party Number That Doesn't Need To Be Changed.

JAKARTA - Commission II of the DPR will discuss the proposal of the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia who is also the General Chair of the PDI-P (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri, so that the numbering of political parties in the 2024 General Election does not need to be changed and continues to use the same number as the previous election. This was stated by Member of Commission II of the DPR RI from the PAN faction, Guspardi Gaus. Guspardi admitted that he had heard the news that the proposal had been submitted to the General Elections Commission (KPU). According to him, the KPU can conduct internal discussions first. Furthermore, said Guspardi, conduct further consultations and discussions with the government and Commission II of the DPR to obtain approval.

"Commission II in charge of elections will certainly discuss with all factions in Commission II with the government and election organizers by considering the positive side and the negative impact," Guspardi told reporters, Friday, September 23. "In other words, an in-depth investigation of the benefits and benefit of the regional government regarding proposals does not need to re-beat the serial number of political parties," he continued.

In principle, said Guspardi, the proposal submitted must have added value, not only intended for the benefit of certain political parties. Then, it must also fulfill a sense of justice for all political parties who will compete as participants in the 2024 election.

"The problem is, will this proposal be accommodated later? Of course, it must go through existing procedures and mechanisms," said the member of the Legislative Body of the DPR. "More importantly, the proposal cannot be against the applicable laws and regulations," added Guspardi.
