SAMS Sepinggan Airport Balikpapan Receives An International Award For The 5th Time
SAMARINDA - Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman International Airport (SAMS) Sepinggan Balikpapan, East Kalimantan for the fifth time received an international award as one of the best airports in the airport category with a passenger class of 5-15 million.
The award was obtained through periodic measurements throughout the year so that the title "Best Airports in Asia-Pacific by Size and Region", Airport Service Quality Awards 2021 (ASQ Awards 2021) which this year was held in Krakow Poland by Airport Council International (ACI).
"The success that has been achieved, both in maintaining and maintaining the quality of service at SAMS Sepinggan Airport Balikpapan, is a form of hard work and good cooperation between the management of PT Angkasa Pura I and all stakeholders," said the General Manager of Balikpapan's SAMS Sepinggan Airport, Rika Danakusuma, in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 21.
In addition, SAMS Sepinggan Airport also received the "The Airport Council General's Roll of Excellence in Airport Service Quality" award which is only given to airports that have received the ASQ Award from ACI 5 times in 5 consecutive years.
With this title, SAMS Sepinggan Airport - Balikpapan is the only one in Indonesia that is able to consistently obtain and maintain this title.
Rika Danakusuma conveyed that the award presentation took place at the peak of the Awarding event to PT Angkasa Pura I, Balikpapan's SAMS Sepinggan Airport, along with other Best Airports in the ACI Customer Experience Global Summit 2022 series of activities in Krakow, Poland, 15 September 2022.
According to her, not all countries that have international airports are able to provide world-class service and maintain it for 5 consecutive years.

The ASQ Award is an international award given to airports around the world that are recognized as airports with the best services.
This recognition is obtained from measuring the level of satisfaction of service users continuously throughout the year, both arriving and departing through the airport by the ACI International Institute (Airport Council International), which is a world airport organization based in Montreal, Canada. To date, ACI has 717 members who manage 1,950 airports spread across 185 countries in the world.
Citing the official release, ACI World Director General, Luis Felipe de Oliveira, expressed his pride for the efforts of airport managers in the world in providing services to service users.

At the ASQ Award this time, PT Angkasa Pura I became the recipient of the most awards in Indonesia with 6 awards from 15 airports managed.
In addition to Balikpapan's SAMS Sepinggan Airport, airports receiving awards at the 2021 ASQ Awards include Makassar's Sultan Hasanuddin Airport and Yogyakarta International Airport for the "Best Airport by Size and Region: 5 to 15 Million Passengers per Year in Asia-Pacific" category.
General Ahmad Yani Airport Semarang and Adi Soemarmo Airport Surakarta for the category "Best Airport by Size and Region: 2 to 5 Million Passengers per Year in Asia-Pacific"; and Ambon Pattimura Airport for the category "Best Airport by Size and Region: Under 2 Million Passengers per Year in Asia-Pacific".
