Just Freed from Prison, Recidivists in Bali Steal Money and Gold

BULELENG - The Buleleng Police Team, Bali, arrested a recently released recidivist, Kadek Supartika (31) alias Ucil. He stole money and gold.

"The suspect has only been out for 34 days, has finished carrying out his sentence for theft of certificates, and has been detained for one year", said Head of Public Relations of the Buleleng Police, AKP I Gede Sumarjaya, Thursday, September 8.

The suspect stole on Thursday, September 1 at a shop in Banjar Dinas Yehanakan, Banjarasem Village, Seririt District, Buleleng Regency.

At that time, the suspect saw the shop owned by the victim Ni Luh Suartini (60) empty and deserted. The suspect initially pretended to buy cigarettes when the shop owner was in the bathroom.

The perpetrator then entered the room behind the shop and took the wallet containing the money. The perpetrator also took a box containing gold.

"As a result of the incident, the victim claimed to have suffered a loss of IDR 89,662,000, calculated from IDR 1 million in cash and various types of gold consisting of rings, bracelets, pendants, earrings, necklaces, and gold brooches", he added.

The suspect is known to have stolen gold in 2014 in Karangasem, stolen a laptop in 2019, and also stole a cellphone in Denpasar.

"Against the suspect, he is suspected of having committed the crime of ordinary theft as referred to in the formulation of Article 362 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of five years in prison", he said.
