Bambang Widjojanto Calls Anies' Summons To The KPK With Potential Political Vocational Creation
JAKARTA - Former Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Bambang Widjojanto, views that the summons of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan by the KPK has the potential to cause political commotion.
Anies was summoned by the KPK for questioning regarding the investigation into the alleged corruption case in the implementation of Formula E Jakarta. Anies also complied with a call to arrive at the KPK on Wednesday, September 7 morning.
Bambang said the potential for political commotion could arise because Anies' summons coincided with this year's political situation which began to heat up ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Anies himself is a strong presidential candidate who is championed by a number of parties.
"The drama and political hostages as well as the potential for political corruption are getting stronger and harder so that a lot of noise will be created which shows the fragility of the authentication law enforcement process and provides certainty and justice for the community," said Bambang in his statement, Wednesday, September 7.
However, the former chairman of the Corruption Prevention Committee for the Governor's Team for the Acceleration of Development (TGUPP) of DKI respects every process of investigating cases handled by the KPK, including summoning Anies for questioning.
In addition to the KPK, Bambang also gave appreciation to Anies for fulfilling today's summons. According to him, Anies' attitude is part of helping the KPK in investigating the alleged corruption in the electric car racing event.
"Investigators have the authority to summon someone, including Anies Baswedan, to hear his statement to ensure that there are cases related to a successful international celebration and get extraordinary appreciation from the public and the international community," he said.
But most importantly, said Bambang, the KPK can still act transparently and accountably in tracing the alleged corruption of Formula E Jakarta in the midst of a political year that is starting to heat up. Bambang said the KPK should not look for loopholes for actions that are not in accordance with the results of the investigation.
"The big question after giving Anies Baswedan a statement on the prosecution from the KPK, will the KPK leadership submit to the results and conclusions of the investigation, and not look for excuses and force their will to suspect Anies?" he said.
As is known, Anies answered the KPK's call to arrive at the KPK's Red and White Building, South Jakarta, Wednesday, September 7, at around 09.26 WIB. He got out of the black Kijang Innova car.
Entering the building, Anies, wearing a white official shirt, seemed to be waving and occasionally giving a thumbs up.
The KPK did not specify what would be asked of Anies. Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said this was due to allegations that Formula E corruption was still under investigation.
It is hoped that, said Ali, that Anies' statement will be able to make light of the alleged corruption. "In principle, the request for information is meant as a need for an investigation process that is being carried out by the KPK," Ali told reporters.
