Prince Harry Agrees To Princess Diana's Interview On BBC Under Investigation
JAKARTA - Prince Harry agrees with the attitude of his older brother, Prince William, who welcomed a new investigation into how the BBC obtained a famous and controversial interview with their mother, Princess Diana, in 1995.
The inquiry led by a former Supreme Court judge will focus on how the BBC got interviews and whether executives are keeping up.
Prince William, second in line to the throne, said the investigation was a step in the right direction and a source close to Harry said Saturday that the prince was regularly updated.
A source also questioned some British media reports asking why Harry, who lives in California with his wife Meghan and son Archie, has not joined William in welcoming the investigation.
"Unfortunately, some people not only see this as an impetus to uncover the truth, but are trying to use the opportunity to create divisions between the brothers," the person said.
During the interview, which saw more than 20 million viewers in the UK, Diana shocked the public by admitting the affair and revealing details of her failed marriage to heir Prince Charles.
Diana also admitted that there was an affair and said there were "three people in this marriage", referring to Charles' relationship with Camilla Parker-Bowles, who became his second wife after Diana died.
