Apart From Meditation, Learning Proper Breathing Engineering Can Also Help Yourself
JAKARTA - Psychologist Grace E. Sameve, MA, M.Psi, advises people to do 456 breathing techniques to help calm down when experiencing intense emotions while at the same time breathing.
"The goal is to regulate breathing to be more regular, to deal with intense emotions or suddenly appear and we don't know what it is," he said in the webinar "Refuse and Overcome Tantrum in Children, Increase Small Performance at Schools", reports ANTARA, Thursday, August 25.
He said, first, make sure that the child is in a safe situation, for example by entrusting him to a partner. Children who are in a safe condition will make it easier for parents who want to do breathing techniques 456 concentrate and calm down.
The next step, in a sitting position or standing, a person can try to close their eyes so that their concentration is not disturbed. Next, try to breathe through the nose four seconds counts, then hold it for five seconds, then exhale through the mouth for six seconds.
"This generally needs to be done several times because the first time it was still a bit of a strike or calculated speed because it was still very emotional," said Grace asserted, the purpose of doing this breathing technique is to rearrange the regularity of breathing.
According to him, when a person experiences intense emotions or overflows, it is realized or does not usually cause the breath to become irregular (usually faster). This method, he continued, may not solve all problems but is the first step or first aid in finding solutions, such as practicing recognizing emotions or undergoing counseling.
"Generally it will be calmer so that we can make decisions what to do next with more wisdom or not being influenced by the intense emotions we feel," said Grace.
Various studies show a person's emotional experience is complex and this sometimes causes a heart rate to become faster, the cheeks become red and the breathing is irregular.
