Police Uncover Online Prostitution Cases In North Jakarta Based On Facebook Groups
JAKARTA - The police arrested a man with the initials FS on suspicion of online prostitution. Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Tanjung Priok Port Police AKP Sang Ngurah Wiratama said the perpetrator was arrested at a hotel in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Saturday, August 20, at around 22.30 WIB.
The disclosure of this online prostitution case was revealed when the Tanjung Priok Port Police cyber patrol found a Facebook group that offered dating friends. Based on this information, the police moved in and conducted an investigation.
"As usual, we hold cyber patrols, some offer them through the Facebook application. From that application we continue to other media applications, on this occasion media chat," said Wiratama when confirmed, Wednesday, August 23.
"Then we investigated the person so that we had the opportunity to uncover this prostitution case. During the arrest, the police helped rescue two women who were peddled by the suspect FS," he continued.

When examined, FS admitted that he had been running the online prostitution business for approximately six months. He made a profit of IDR 900 thousand from one transaction.
"The police also confiscated a number of evidence during the arrest, including underwear, hotel check-in receipts, and contraceptives," he said.
To account for his actions, the suspect FS now has to undergo a legal process under the suspicion of Article 296 of the Criminal Code and or Article 56 of the Criminal Code with a maximum imprisonment of 1 year and 7 months.
