There Are More And More Gaslink Cylinder Users

JAKARTA - Pertamina Gas Subholding through its subsidiary PT Gagas Energi Indonesia (Gagas) continues to carry out its commitment to provide solutions to fulfill energy that are more efficient and environmentally friendly for the community and MSMEs that are far from the reach of piped gas. Gagas is optimistic about increasing the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) technology, Gaslink Cylinder.

The President Director of Gagas, Muhammad Hardiansyah, explained that the Gaslink Cylinder is an innovative use of natural gas packaged in tubes, intended for MSME and industrial customers.

"The first efficiency is obtained from the selling price. From the experience of using the restaurants we served last year, and customer testimonials, the efficiency obtained is 11 percent lower than the price of non-subsidized gas cylinders. With the current increasing world oil conditions, of course, the efficiency gained will get bigger," explained Hardiansyah, in his statement, quoted on Tuesday, August 23.

The second is related to volume. The efficiency obtained from the use of the Gaslink Cylinder is saving a volume of around 7-11 percent compared to non-subsidized gas cylinders.

"The calculation of the volume of gas used by the Gaslink Cylinder is the same as pipe gas, where the gas paid for is according to the volume of gas used by the customer. So from the volume saving, the price is also saving, so it's double saving," explained Hardiansyah.

Hardiansyah emphasized that in addition to providing clean energy services, Gagas also provides support to the MSME industry. There are quite a number of Gaslink Cylinder users, from restaurants to hotels, which are located not close to PGN's natural gas pipeline network. Reflecting the average use of Gaslink Cylinder in Tangerang is around 200,000 m3 per month.

"As for Tangerang itself, we support not only MSMEs, but also household gas needs. This is because there are several housing clusters, such as Karawaci and Bintaro, which are quite far from piped gas. The scheme will continue to use piped gas in the cluster, but the source is from gaslink (CNG)," explained Hardiansyah.

Gagas will use the GTM (gas transportation module) to carry natural gas. Then later for gas storage, it will be placed next to PGN's Meter Regulating Station (MRS), so there is no need for supply from pipes.

Hardiansyah also hopes that the double saving benefit from the Gaslink Cylinder can attract people to use it. Thus, the use of natural gas as an efficient energy alternative can be expanded to support business actors, while at the same time providing easier access to natural gas for the community.
