Premier League Results: A Trip To Elland Road, Chelsea Humiliated Leeds United 0-3
JAKARTA - Leeds United humiliated Chelsea 3-0 in matchday 3 of the English Premier League at Elland Road stadium, Leeds on Sunday night WIB.
Brenden Aaronson, Rodrigo Moreno and Jack Harrison scored three goals for the home team. Meanwhile, Chelsea had to play with 10 men at the end of the second half after Kalidou Koulibaly was sent off by the referee.
The defeat saw Thomas Tuchel's side drop to 12th in the standings with 4 points, while Leeds moved up to second with seven points and two points behind Arsenal.
The Blues immediately got a chance in the first minute. Raheem Stering got the ball and immediately stabbed into the penalty box. Unfortunately, the ex-Manchester City kick was still narrowly wide of the goal.
In the 4th minute, Leeds turn to reply. Jack Harrison kick still leads to the Blues goalkeeper, Mendy.
Chelsea had scored in the 15th minute. Cucurella sent Sterling's cross and he slotted home into Leeds' goal. Unfortunately the linesman raised the flag because Sterling was already in an offside position.
Five minutes later, Leeds had a chance. Rodrigo's shot from the left side of the Chelsea defense was still wide of Mendy's goal.
In the 22nd minute, Mason Mount got a golden opportunity. Getting bait from Kai Havertz's header in the middle of the field, Mount went into the penalty box and released a low shot which goalkeeper Meslier was able to parry.
Rodrigo threatens Chelsea again. In the 31st minute through a counter-attack, Mendy's hard kick was secured.
Two minutes later, Mendy received a backpass. The Senegalese goalkeeper took too long to hold the ball which was struck by Brenden Aaronson before slotting home the rounder with ease. The score became 1-0 for the home team.
In the 37th minute, Leeds added his goal. Rodrigo heads the ball from Harrison's free-kick which Mendy can't stop. Leeds lead 2-0.
After that, the fight went even harder. Chelsea continued to press but it was difficult to catch up. Leeds United while leading 2-0 in the first half.
After the break of the first half, Chelsea tried to press first and Leeds United defended deeper.
Mason Mount had a chance in the 50th minute but his shot was blocked by the Leeds backline.
In the 58th minute, Gallagher threatened. Chelsea midfielder's horizontal kick was sideways thin from the target.
Chelsea continued to press. This time Reece James made an experiment in the 65th minute, the right-back opened fire from outside the penalty box. Unfortunately Meslier was able to brush it off.
Leeds United added their goal in the 69th minute via Jack Harrison. Starting from the Leeds attack on the left side, James passed the ball in front of the Chelsea goal.
Rodrigo bounced the ball which was immediately struck by Harrison to make Mendy not move. The position is 3-0.
