Soundcloud Provides Verification Blue Tick Without Subscription
JAKARTA - Soundcloud streaming music service has finally followed in the footsteps of other social media in verifying accounts. The company puts a blue tick next to the artist's account on its platform.
"We do this to help famous artists stand out and maintain their authenticity, and to help listeners identify these artists more easily," said Soundcloud in his official statement as quoted by Engadget, Thursday, November 19.
Some of the artists that have been verified by SoundCloud include Billie Eilish and Wiz Khalifa. Given this blue tick, it sets clear enough criteria for other artists to receive the same treatment.
Like other social media, if a user wants to get a blue tick, they have to be a well-known or sought-after character, musician, DJ, label, curator or podcaster.
In addition, they must have a clear profile, without misleading information and upload at least one song. SoundCloud says new verification will take up to 30 days for companies to be identified in advance.
Previously, to get a blue tick on the profile, users had to subscribe to the Soundcloud Pro plan which costs 12 US dollars per month. The company acknowledges that this right is often misused to verify accounts that are not artists or musicians.
