Bank Indonesia: Rupiah Is The Most Stable Exchange Rate In The World

JAKARTA - The monetary authority of Bank Indonesia (BI) claims that the stability of the rupiah exchange rate is maintained quite well in the midst of continuing global uncertainty.

BI Governor Perry Warjiyo even stated that the condition of the rupiah was included in the category of the best currency in the world when facing current pressures.

"Thank God our exchange rate is among the most stable in the world," he said in a report to President Jokowi at the Merdeka Palace today, Thursday, August 18.

According to Perry, the rupiah's slick score is very important to support economic activities in the country.

"This is useful for supporting economic growth and controlling inflation," he said.

VOI noted that the exchange rate on July 20, 2022, depreciated 0.60 percent (ptp) compared to the end of June 2022, but with maintained volatility.

Due to this development, the rupiah exchange rate until July 20, 2022, has depreciated 4.90 percent (ytd) compared to the level at the end of 2021.

The book was relatively better than the depreciation of the currencies of a number of other developing countries, such as Malaysia 6.41 percent, India 7.07 percent, and Thailand 8.88 percent.
