EWINDO Collaborates With Jember University To Provide Farmer Health Check Services
JAKARTA - In order to celebrate Indonesia's 77th Independence Day, PT East West Seed Indonesia (EWINDO) or known as "CAP PANAH MERAH" today, Tuesday 16 August, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jember held a Health Checkup for around 200 farmers and family in Jember, East Java.
This event was attended by the Deputy Dean III of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jember, dr. Bagus Hermansyah, M. Biomed and representatives from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jember, General Manager Corporate Affairs of EWINDO Fransiska Fortuna and the management of EWINDO in Jember.
"Agriculture is a sector that supports food security, but on the other hand, farmers have health risks due to long working hours, exposure to chemicals and the lack of personal protective equipment. This activity is in accordance with the values we promote, we are friends of farmers who are willing to understand, help, and always able to provide solutions to all farmers' problems including the health of farmers and their families," said Seed Operation Director PT East West Seed Indonesia Joko Sareh Utomo, in his statement.
Through an activity that was also carried out to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the East West Seed Group, EWINDO raised the theme "Healthy Growers for Healthier Tomorrow" where the key farmers of EWINDO's seed production or "growers" and their families in this case their wives received health checks and education on patterns. live healthy for free. Farmers who receive this service come from the Jember and Banyuwangi districts.
This free health service received a very positive response from farmers. Farmer representative Sutriono who came from Banyuwangi said the farmers were greatly helped by this free health service. The reason is, so far they are rarely and indeed do not think to check their health regularly.
"We are very happy and grateful for being able to have free health checks. We hope this activity can be carried out regularly because it is very helpful and makes it easier for farmers," said Sutriono.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jember, Supangat said that this activity was not only intended to provide health services to the agricultural community but also to provide health information directly to the community.
As an Agromedical Campus in Indonesia, this is also a manifestation of the commitment of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jember to the environment and society, especially in supporting the improvement of farmers' health as the backbone of the country's food.
"The health check program for agricultural activities is very good. Companies like EWINDO are extraordinary because they have done it as well as implementing its motto as the best friend of farmers. If all institutions related to farmers care about their health, farmers will be happy and if farmers are happy then the country will be prosperous," said Supangat.
In addition to providing health services to farmers, previously EWINDO has also collaborated with the University of Jember to build MCK facilities and pipes for 600 meters of agricultural land in Suco Pangepok Village, Jelbuk District, Jember-East Java. This pipeline irrigates 45 hectares of productive agricultural land and can be utilized by 105 farmers who are actively producing rice, corn, chili, tomatoes and eggplant commodities.
Not only in Jember, East Java, EWINDO also provides assistance and health services for farmers in various other areas such as in Brebes, Central Java and Pandeglang, Banten. To date, EWINDO has collaborated with more than 17,000 seed producing farmers.
Through this collaboration, EWINDO provides assistance, technology transfer to directly absorb farmers' crops. With this cooperation pattern, farmers get guarantees for the agricultural products they produce.
In addition, EWINDO also fosters more than 7 million vegetable farmers throughout Indonesia. In order to serve vegetable farmers throughout Indonesia, EWINDO has produced 150 varieties of high-quality seeds and has received a certificate from the Seed Quality System Certification Institute for Food Crops and Horticulture.
