This Ethereum Whale Transfers 145,000 ETH To An Unknown Wallet
JAKARTA – Crypto wallet addresses that still hold Ethereum since the initial coin offering (ICO) in 2014 reportedly moved 145,000 ETH to another wallet.
The entire amount is divided into 5,000 ETH per wallet. The whale had a participation in the Ethereum Genesis ICO which took place in 2014. At that time per ETH was valued at 0.31 US dollars. The ETH owner decided to sell part of his ETH holdings on the Bitfinex3 crypto exchange on July 31, 2019, at $219 per coin.
Reporting from UToday, the total value of the purchase was around 1 million US dollars. The giant whale Ethereum Genesis ICO has a wallet address: 0x4bAf012726CB5EC7Dda57Bc2770798A38100c44d. In a few years the wallet has been inactive, it is now starting to send its ETH deposits.
Since yesterday, a total of 145,000 ETH has been transferred out and distributed across multiple wallets. The information was announced by Wu Blockchain on his Twitter account @WuBlockchain on August 15, 2022. While the rest could easily be sold for around 250 million US dollars, given the potential for such a withdrawal to cause a big deal in the meantime if sold via market order.
But at the same time, it is unlikely that the pope will sell his holdings, because the nature of the transaction is invisible. The sale is likely to occur on the exchange. The most likely scenario is that investors will open multiple Ethereum 2.0 nodes to receive passive income.
However, what if 145,000 ETH was sold on the market? Considering the slight correction in Ethereum, some members of the crypto community assume that the whale will sell some of its holdings when ETH is trading around $2,000 and will buy it back at a lower price when Ether moves back below $1,000.
