Having Fun Playing In The Water To The Middle, SMK Students From Semarang Were Swept Away By The Waves On Parangkusumo Beach DIY
YOGYAKARTA - The Joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team is looking for a student from Semarang, Central Java, who was swept away by waves in the Parangkusumo Beach area, Parangtritis, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).
"Yogyakarta Basarnas dispatched a Rescue Team equipped with Water Rescue equipment to look for victims who were swept away by the waves," said Head of the Yogyakarta Basarnas Office Kamal Riswandi in a written statement received in Yogyakarta, Antara, Monday, August 15.
According to him, the male victim, Catur Prasetya (17), a tourist from Panularsih Semarang, who is a student of a vocational school in Semarang, was traveling in the Parangtritis Beach area of Bantul.
He said the Yogyakarta Basarnas received a report from the SAR Coordinator of the Parangtritis Satlinmas that there had been a dangerous condition for humans, one person was dragged by the waves at Parangkusumo Beach, Bantul on Monday at around 15.15 WIB.
"The chronology that we got, the group of SMK Kartini Semarang arrived at Parangtritis Beach at around 14.15 WIB as many as nine buses, the group went straight to the beach," he said.
Then, two people from the student group played in the water, even though they had previously been reminded not to play in the water, considering the location is a sea trench area.
"Because they were too busy playing in the water, the two victims were too far in the middle, and then they were dragged by the ocean currents. One victim survived on behalf of Guruh (17) a resident of Semarang, Central Java, while the victim Catur Prasetya (17) is still in the search process," he said.
After the incident, members of the SAR Satlinmas Parangtritis who were on guard tried to provide help, but the Catur victim had not been found and was still being searched for by the Joint SAR Team.
Basarnas Yogyakarta who received the report immediately dispatched a rescue team equipped with Water Rescue equipment.
"The Yogyakarta Basarnas Office Rescue Team will coordinate with the Directorate of Polair Polda DIY and SAR Satlinmas Parangtritis to conduct searches and open a Joint SAR Team Command Post for coordination during SAR operations," he said.
