As An Alternative To Cooking Oil, Red Cooking Oil Is Increasingly In Demand: Restaurant Chain Asks For 200 Tons
JAKARTA - The Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs (MenkopUKM) Teten Masduki said that there had been many requests for red edible oil products. One of them is from a restaurant chain. This oil is presented as an alternative choice of cooking oil.
Teten said, as much as 200 tons of red edible oil had been requested by the restaurant chain. This is due to the role of the Indonesian Shopping Center Retailers and Tenants Association (Hippindo).
"Earlier I was whispered by Mr. Budi, I got it, from the restaurant chain there has been a request for 200 tons," he said in his remarks at the Indonesia Retail Summit 2022, Sarinah, Monday, August 15.
Teten said red edible oil could also be distributed around the palm oil plantation area. In fact, the number is quite large when compared to the average production per day.
“It can be distributed to the community, so if it is 10 tons, we have calculated that it will be distributed to two sub-districts around the plantation. So this will also strengthen the distribution of cooking oil to the community," he explained.
Not only that, said Teten, in the processing sector, the construction of a simple factory to process red edible oil is also encouraged for every 1,000 hectares of palm oil land. Thus, the oil factories will be spread over several points.
"We can build every 1,000 hectares of palm oil, we build a mini factory for CPO and red edible oil," he said.
Furthermore, said Teten, this will have a good impact on oil palm farmers in the future. This means that farmers do not only sell fresh fruit bunches (FFB), but also sell their processed products.
"Now the oil palm farmers are happy, because they will no longer only sell their FFB, but can get added value from processing it into red edible oil," he said.
Minister Teten also appreciated Hippindo's commitment to open space for oil palm farmers to gain wider market access. This was marked by the commitment of members of the Hippindo network to contract with oil palm farmers to supply red edible oil.
"I also thank Hippindo for looking for a red edible oil market. I also thank Pak Erick because the one who has the technology for processing red edible oil is Pak Erick, from the palm oil research center in Medan," he said.
For your information, this red edible oil can be produced by MSMEs. The difference between red edible oil and palm cooking oil that has been consumed by the public is in the manufacturing process. Where red edible oil is heated, the heating temperature is not too high so that it contains provitamin A and provitamin E.
The pilot project for the development of red edible oil is targeted to be realized in January 2023. As a result of the Meeting (Limited Meeting) July 18, 2022, President Jokowi has instructed to build three initial locations as pilot projects.
The current progress, preparation of DED for red edible oil factory by PPKS and discussion of RSNI specifically for red edible oil by BSN will be completed in August 2022.
