Anies Baswedan Was In Tokyo When Tropical Storm Meari That Could Bring Heavy Rain Was Heading There
JAKARTA - Tropical Storm Meari, which caused heavy rains on Japan's main island of Honshu, is now heading towards Tokyo, Japan. Incidentally, there was also the Governor of DKI Anies Baswedan who was meeting the Governor of Tokyo Yuriko Koike.
Quoted from Channel News Asia, which released data from the Japan Meteorological Agency, Meari landed in Shizuoka Prefecture, southwest of Tokyo, bringing heavy rain and strong winds to a wide area. Landslide and flood warnings have been issued.
More than 72,000 people in the main city of Shizuoka were evacuated due to possible landslides.
Meari brought strong winds of up to 72 km/h, passing through Shizuoka and traveling at a speed of about 20 km/h. He is expected to continue moving north before veering east, swinging over the Pacific Ocean on Sunday morning.
The Tokyo area is hit by rains that fall periodically starting in the morning. A high-surge warning in coastal areas was issued for Tokyo, Kanagawa Prefecture, southwest of Tokyo, and other nearby areas.
Authorities warned against going near rivers or other bodies of water, as the water could rise suddenly. Rainfall is expected to worsen in Tokyo and areas north of Tokyo in the evening.

It is known that DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan is currently in Japan meeting with Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike to discuss the potential for cooperation in several fields, including environmentally friendly public transportation.

The governor of DKI uploaded a photo of the meeting with the Governor of Tokyo at the Tokyo City Hall accompanied by several delegates on his personal Instagram account.
He did not elaborate further on the potential for cooperation between the two cities. Anies also did not reveal when he arrived in Tokyo and how long he would be in Sakura Country.
