KPK OTT Pemalang Regent, Ganjar Pranowo: Warning To Stop Corruption

SEMARANG - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo emphasized that the Corruption Eradication Commission's (OTT) operation to arrest Pemalang Regent Mukti Agung Wibowo was a warning to regional heads to stop all forms of corruption.

"I've actually reminded my friends (regional heads in Central Java Province) many times and of course I'll wait for the developments," said Ganjar in Semarang, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 11.

According to Ganjar, communication in an effort to warn regional heads in Central Java Province not to be involved in corruption has been carried out intensely, especially since the Central Java Provincial Government has long cooperated with the KPK in preventing corruption.

"I always remind him because in fact our cooperation with law enforcement, with the KPK has been too frequent," he said.

Ganjar revealed that the KPK in each of its activities in Central Java does not only carry out socialization and education in eradicating corruption, but also includes warnings or codes that regional heads must pay attention to.

The emphasis, Ganjar continued, is self-control in each individual head of the region.

"Be careful, yes, in Central Java, there are things like buying and selling positions, there are people in Central Java who are playing projects, there are people who are like this which are considered evil. Now, at that time we have to exercise self-control," he said.

The former member of the DPR said Pemalang Regency was currently assisting the Central Java Provincial Government in the context of appointing a new regional secretary because the previous one resigned after being involved in a corruption case and named a suspect by the police.

"Yesterday we were assisting there from the problems faced by the regional secretary, so then we tried to be intense, yes, I don't know if this will happen later," he said.

Ganjar admitted that he did not have complete information regarding the OTT for Pemalang Regent Mukti Agung Wibowo at the DPR Building complex.

"This is a warning to everyone, please stop all crimes of this type. I don't know maybe some of them also communicate business matters, which run on policies and there have been too many cases, for example, maybe submitting a proposal, being accompanied, getting a fee, which is something like That's usually the potential for corruption," he said.

Based on information gathered, Pemalang Regent Mukti Agung Wibowo was ensnared by the KPK OTT at the DPR Building, Jakarta, on Thursday night.

The KPK has also detained dozens of other people, but has not officially announced the legal status of the parties arrested in the OTT.
