DPRD Prepares Ranperda To Prevent Medan City Children From Being Victims Of Violence And Exploitation
MEDAN - The Regional Regulation Formation Agency (Bapemperda) of the Medan City DPRD, is preparing a draft regional regulation (ranperda) to protect children in Medan City, North Sumatra.
"In the near future, we will discuss the priority scale regional regulations, one of which is related to the implementation of child protection in Medan City," said Rudiawan Sitorus, a member of the Regional Regulation Formation Agency (Bapemperda) of the Medan City DPRD, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 11.
This Ranperda, he continued, is very much needed by children in the capital city of North Sumatra Province according to the mandate of Law No. 35/2014 concerning Amendments to Law No. 23/2002 on Child Protection.
This is because, he continued, until now in the city of Medan, underage children have sold certain items that are considered inappropriate at night.
In addition, the case of child exploitation is a serious concern, because it receives a lot of input regarding child labor which results in them not getting an education.
"What we hear the most, such as exploitation of children, cases of violence against children, and the problem of children's education in the city of Medan," he said.
