The First Recording Studio In Indonesia, Lokananta Will Be Revived
JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir plans to revive the first recording studio in Indonesia, Lokananta by making repairs. Just like what he did to Sarinah.
The plan came about when Erick saw firsthand the condition of Lokananta, on the sidelines of his visit to Solo, Central Java.
Lokananta became the first recording studio for LPs in Indonesia. In fact, around 1972, Lokananta switched to producing cassettes.
"God willing, we will fix it so that musicians can use it again for their work," said Erick, quoted from his official Instagram @erickthohir, Wednesday, August 10.

Erick said, the purpose of the improvement is so that people can still enjoy historical witnesses related to the development of music in the country.
"I want the public to also be able to enjoy witnessing the history of the development of music in Indonesia," he said.
Lokananta is part of a state-owned company. Now, Lokananta is part of the State Printing Office of the Republic of Indonesia (PNRI).
"This first recording studio in Indonesia, is a historic BUMN asset that has been eaten by the times," he said.
