Santri Dies After Fighting: When It Happened Teachers Were Preparing To Teach At Islamic Boarding School

TANGERANG – One of the teachers at the Daarul Qolam 1 Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes), Jayanti, Tangerang Regency Ponpes, Ahmad Idrus spoke about the incident of the death of BD (15), a student at the Islamic boarding school.

Ahmad Idrus admitted that at the time of the incident he did not know there was a commotion between BD and R (15). Because, said Idrus, he and the other teachers were still getting ready to teach.

"It happened during working hours. We are getting ready to teach, all of these teachers are preparing to teach at that time. So we also didn't know there was such a thing," said Ahmad Idrus when met at Ponpes Daarul Qolam 1, Jayanti, Tangerang Regency, Monday, August 8th.

"We know that there are students who report to us, there are children who are unconscious after the dispute," he continued.

Ahmad Idrus explained that the fighting incident was the first time at his Islamic boarding school. He also suspects that the case began with a misunderstanding between the two.

"Previously, there was none. This was purely a dispute, actually a misunderstanding, actually. So it was between two children. This was between one class 1 high school class. It was spontaneity," he explained.

Therefore the Daraal Qolam 1 Islamic boarding school will tighten supervision. This is to prevent similar cases from happening again.

"We do our best to tighten supervision in the dormitory, in the classroom, or on all sides, roughly so. God willing, hopefully it can be resolved," he said.

On his occasion, Ahmad said the teaching and learning process was still running.

"We don't want this incident to happen. But yesterday's activities after the incident to this day, children from the qolam continue to run, KBM and children's sports," he concluded.
