CIAMIS - Eight people died in a single pickup truck accident on Raya Sukamantri-Panjalu, Sukamantri Street, Ciamis Regency, West Java, Monday, August 8. The car carrying 17 people fell into a ravine.
Ciamis Police Chief, AKBP Tony Prasetyo Yudhangkoro, confirmed that there was a single accident that caused six people to die at the scene and another victim to the hospital.
"Six people died at the TKP, one person died at the Sukamantri Health Center, and one person died at the hospital", Tony said as quoted by Antara, Monday evening.
He said that the incident began when a pickup truck carrying 17 members of a group of residents of Barujul, Jatiwangi, Majalengka Regency was about to hold a celebration in Panjalu, Ciamis Regency.
However, said the Police Chief, in the middle of the road the car had a single accident into a 30-meter-deep ravine on Raya Sukamantri-Panjalu Street at around 07.30 WIB.
As a result of the accident, he said, it was reported that a number of adult and child passengers were injured and had to be taken to health centers and hospitals for medical treatment.
"Nine others were injured and receiving treatment at the Sukamantri Health Center and Ciamis Hospital. Of the nine injured victims, five of them were children", he said.
A number of police personnel then carried out the process of evacuating the victim to the hospital, then evacuating the car from the bottom of the ravine.
