Banten Police Ask Residents To Beware Of Aftershocks In Sumur
SERANG - An earthquake occurred on Friday, August 5 at around 16.32 western Indonesia time, with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale at the point of the earthquake at coordinates 7.76 degrees South Latitude (LS) and 104.95 degrees East Longitude (BT).
Banten Police Public Relations Head, Police Grand Commissioner Shinto Silitonga said the epicenter of the earthquake was 140 km southwest of Sumur, Banten, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
"As a result of coordination with the BMKG, the earthquake did not cause a tsunami wave," Shinto said in a written statement, Friday, August 5.
Shinto also explained that as a result of coordination with the Sumur Police Chief, First Inspector Barmono, the earthquake did not cause any damage or casualties.

"Until now, the Sumur Police Chief and personnel have carried out field checks, and there have been no findings of damaged houses, injured residents and the height of the sea waves remains normal," he explained.
Finally, Shinto appealed to the public to remain vigilant in the face of aftershocks that could occur at any time.
"I urge residents not to panic but remain vigilant and follow the directions from the officers," he concluded.
