Police Arrest Telkom Cable Thief Syndicate In Jambi
JAMBI - Jambi Police arrested a syndicate of theft of network cables belonging to PT. Telkom after the police received a cable theft report in Jambi City.
Jambi City Police Chief Commissioner Dhadhag Aninddhito said the two perpetrators, namely MH, a resident of Jelutung, Jambi City, and IP, a resident of Mestong Muaro, Jambi, were arrested after officers received a report on the theft of a network cable belonging to Telkom.
"We collaborated with the Jelutung Police, traced and carried out developments, it turned out that they were indeed a syndicate," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 5.
The two perpetrators were determined to carry out their actions at night and took Telkom's 15-meter network cable, in the Jalan Haji Agus Salim area, Paal V, Kota Baru on Monday (11/7).
According to the perpetrator's confession, Dhadhag said, the mode of the cable theft was by pretending to clean the sewers. When the conditions were quiet, the perpetrators began to launch their actions to collect network cables.
Currently, the police are still continuing to develop related to the theft of the network cable.
"It's still being developed, and their confession is that they know each other," he said.
From the analysis, he said, the loss due to the theft was estimated at Rp. 3 million. Currently, the perpetrators and the evidence have been secured at the Kota Baru Jambi Police.
Currently, the police are also investigating where the perpetrators plan to sell this network cable.
"This has not had time to sell, it has been arrested," he said.
As a result of their actions, the two perpetrators were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 5 years in prison.
