Cleaning Up Torue Flood Remnants: 6 Heavy Equipment Unloaded, Sand Carried By Floods For Damaged Village Roads
SULTENG - Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi Province (Sulteng), operates six heavy equipment to clean up building debris and mud left over from a flash flood in Torue Village.
"The involvement of heavy equipment is to facilitate the cleaning of scattered materials," said Parigi Regency BPBD Secretary Moutong Moh. Rivai in Torue, Parigi Moutong, Central Sulawesi, Friday 5 August.
"This also involves five dump trucks, and (the implementation) is assisted by the TNI, Polri, volunteers and local residents," he said.
He said cleaning and transportation of flood waste were still focused on residential areas, especially in Hamlets II, III, and V, which were most severely affected by flash floods.
"Sand material carried by the flood is transported to fill damaged village roads so that vehicle access is smooth. The mud material and pieces of wood and other waste are disposed of in places that have been prepared by the village government," said Rivai.
According to BPBD data, the flood that hit Torue Village on July 28, 2022, damaged at least 63 houses. In detail, 32 houses were heavily damaged, 21 houses were slightly damaged, and 10 houses were lost due to flooding.
The disaster also left three people dead and four missing.
"The search for victims will take place 10 days after the addition of three days and will end on Saturday August 6. The search is active under the command of Basarnas," he concluded.
