PDIP Asks Anies Kaji Matang For 212 Reunion Permits At Monas

JAKARTA - The PDI-P faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD asked Governor Anies Baswedan to carefully examine the recommendation of the National Monument (Monas) area as a place for the 212 Reunion.

Head of the PDIP Faction at the DPRD DKI, Gembong Warsono, explained that the request was not without reason, because currently Monas is still closed to the public during the Corona Virus Desease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

"Yes, the provincial government must carry out a thorough study to be able to recommend a permit to use Monas," said Gembong as quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 12.

According to Gembong, all decisions are in the hands of Governor Anies whether to grant permission or not.

"Because the basic principle is the matter of being granted a permit or not, it falls under the authority of the governor. This means that the governor must conduct a good study, whether it needs to be granted a permit or not," he said.

After the return of FPI Leader Rizieq Shihab, there is a plan to hold a Grand Reunion PA 212 in the Monas area.

PA 212 Chairman Slamet Maarif said that his party plans to use Monas in the 212 Reunion activities.

Slamet also claimed that his party had submitted a permit letter to the DKI Provincial Government since three months ago.

"Oh yes, we are still discussing the reunion agenda, whether we will carry it out as usual in the past years or are there any changes," said Slamet in Petamburan, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 10.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday night, November 10, Governor Anies Baswedan met Rizieq Shihab in Petamburan, Jakarta. However, at the meeting, it was claimed that there was no discussion about the 212 Reunion event.

Monas itself has been closed for crowd activities since Anies Baswedan imposed Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) until now. Anies has also implemented the transitional PSBB rules until November 22, 2020.
